Boots are the ultimate shoe for fall weather, whether it is the riding boot for the preppy look or the ankle style for a chic and funky look. Boots have been a part of fashion for several decades and have developed over time into several different variations.
Wearing boots with the perfect outfit can be a simple task, and often results in a fine polished look. With all the styles of boots available today, several looks are obtainable for every style preference. Three current popular styles include the riding boot, the ankle boot and the knee length boot.
The Riding Boot
The riding boot, like those worn by equestrians, is an extremely popular style of boots for a preppy and polished look. The riding boot comes up above the calf, and has a very small heel or none at all. Colors of the riding boot are typically a deep brown, black or navy blue.
The riding boot can be worn with tight pants or leggings, khaki colored would work best for a riding look but dark denim or black are also effective. For a top, try closely fit shirts such as a polo, and fitted jackets. Simple colors with little or no patterns are best. Simple jewelry and hair tied back in a ponytail or bun will produce the best preppy effect.
The Ankle Boot
Ankle length boots are highly versatile and come in a full range of colors. They usually rise just above the ankle and can be either flat or have a heel of many shapes, and heights. They can be slip-ons, have zippers, elastic or ties. They come in a wide variety of material, from suede to leather, and colors, from purple to pink.
Ankle boots can be worn with skirts, dresses, pants or leggings. To show off the boot, try skinny jeans or leggings. For a dress or skirt, the hemline should be knee length or above the knee. Depending on the desired look, any top of any color is acceptable with the ankle boot.
The Knee-Length Boot
Like its shorter sister the ankle boot, the knee-length boot is also highly versatile and can come in different colors, shapes sizes and heights. The heel can be very high three to four inches, or can be lower or even flat. Colors and patterns are countless, with new styles coming out every season.
To show off the design of the knee-length boot, one can wear them with skinny jeans or leggings with the boot outside the pant. Shirts of every style can also be worn, depending on desired look. In addition, one can try a skirt or dress. For example, for a casual work outfit try a pair of knee-length boots with a turtleneck dress, in a neutral color.
The Boot, a Perfect Shoe For Every Style
The above styles of boots are just some of the many options available. Boots have stayed strong throughout several decades and are still going strong today. Depending on your style, from the preppy to the funky, there is a boot for everyone.
